Super Food Cosmetics

With “beauty foods” being touted as an emerging market, one company, called Nextera, has started a beauty line wither super food ingredients that is sure to be a popular skin care product.  There is a lot of hype building up about using foods in skin care products and utilizing their antioxidant and vitamin properties.  One recent example of this is the use of the acai berry in the Elite Brand of products, such as our top-ranked eye serum, the Elite Serum.

Other examples I found that are pegged for use in this product by using what they call Nutrx8Complex, includes “blueberries, cantaloupe, red grapes, yogurt, honey, figs, walnuts and dark cocoa chocolate, together with the further fortification of vitamin B5, vitamin E, macadamia seed oil, vitamin C, aloe and tea tree oil.”

In similar news, Horst Rechelbacher, the founder of Aveda, has stated that he is planning a new line of cosmetic products through his most recent business venture called Intelligent Nutrients.

Due to the fact that this line of products is free of any petrochemicals and will be formulated for the most part with food grade ingredients, this line is quite possibly edible.

Just like in the scenario of the Nextera line, Rechelbacher is also working with food scientists to develop the line of cosmetic products, versus working with personal care formulators.

A 2006 study released by Kline & Company found that the global nutricosmetics market was valued at on billion dollars.  This figure is set to double over the next five-year period according to the company.

It will certainly be a fun product release.  I plan on providing full reviews of any eye care products, should they be released.  If not, I will have general statements and information on this page, so please feel free to bookmark my site and check back often as this is something I surely will not miss out on.
