Your skin ages and weakens as you get older, and nowhere is this more evident than around the eyes. Where there once was a bright, youthful look, it has given way to fine lines and wrinkles (often called “crow’s feet” because of their appearance extending outside the eye). There are a number of products discussed on this site to help alleviate these issues and make your skin look younger. On this page I’ll discuss the Regenerist line of products from Olay.
About Olay Regenerist
Olay is manufactured and distributed by the parent company Procter & Gamble, a U.S. conglomerate that has its hands in many health and beauty products as well as other consumer packaged goods. You can find this product at your local pharmacy, beauty/cosmetics store, department stores as well as online at the manufacturer’s website as well as third-party sellers like Amazon. I recommend buying from a retail location as opposed to online so you can test a sample of the product first to see how it reacts with your skin, as it would be wasteful to buy a product that may cause an adverse reaction with your skin type. You can purchase the Eye Lifting Serum for around $20, so it is not as big of an investment as other eye serums I review on this site.
The main ingredient in Olay Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum is a vitamin B3 derivative called niacinamide. This ingredient prevents inflammation and swelling in the skin which causes the appearance of dark circles and bags under the eyes. The result is a more youthful appearance, getting rid of the look of tired eyes and stopping the signs of aging.
Another ingredient is green tea extract, which I talk about here on this site. You can go to that link for more detail, but the main properties of green tea extract is as an antioxidant which helps clear debris and other radicals from the skins pores and reinforcing the natural barriers on the skin’s surface to reduce the introduction of outside elements.
Titanium dioxide is another component of this product formulation. This ingredient helps protect the skin from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. It also has peptides and amino acids that boost the production of collagen in the skin which makes the skin firm and plump, smoothing out wrinkles at the skin’s surface due to loose skin.
Applying Olay Regenerst Eye Serum
It is best practice to first wash your face with a gentle cleanser so as to have a clean surface to work with when applying an eye serum. After using a facial cleanser, pat the skin dry with a towel and dab a small amount of the eye serum around the eye, particularly the sides (where wrinkles are most evident) and under-eye area (where dark circles develop). Be cautious to not get the product directly in the eye. It is best to apply an eye serum at night so it can stay on longer and be absorbed through the night.
As with any skin care product, apply it sparingly at first to see how your skin reacts, then gradually increase use after no side effects are seen.
