An instant effect eye serum is defined as a fast-acting serum that contains patented micronized firming ingredients to give you immediate results.  Light-diffusing silicate crystals fill in lines and wrinkles for up to 8 hours as it brightens skin, giving you a youthful-looking complexion.  Results are usually expected within 90 seconds of application and effects are quite dramatic and may last up to 8 hours, instantly tightening the skin on contact.  Instant effect serums stay on top of the skin; they are not absorbed and wash off easily at the end of the day.  The fast-working firming serum temporarily reduces the appearance of:

  • Crows feet
  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Puffy eyes
  • Dark under eye circles

These types of eye serums are good to use when you need a quick cosmetic change to the way your under-eye area looks.  You may want to use an instant serum before a big dinner event, when you wake up late and need some help under the eyes, or for those times you want to do a quick touch-up before the big night out.  If your skin sags under the eyes, an instant eye serum can temporarily help provide a lift to the area for a short period of time.

This type of eye serum is NOT therapeutic.  A therapeutic eye serum is one that is designed to work overtime to correct the damage done to the skin and to provide long term results.  There are no long term effects when you use an instant effect serum.  It simply works to tighten and some would say “freeze” the skin under the eyes.

An instant effect serum can be used as a compliment to a therapeutic eye serum, to provide an overall better look to the under-eye area while you wait for your therapeutic eye serum to begin taking effect.

An instant under eye effect is achieved with the right blend of key ingredients.  Ingredients often include:

  • Retinol (Vitamin A)
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin E
  • Light Diffusing Crystals

We’ve discussed what Retinol and Vitamin C are, how they are used and the key role they play in improving fine line, wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles, but we haven’t explored Vitamin E or Light Diffusing Crystals yet.

Vitamin E plays an important role in skin care.  Its benefits are numerous. In fact, skin care products that contain Vitamin E have become an essential part of healthy skin care.  Vitamin E, due to its antioxidant activity, is vital in protecting skin cells from ultra violet light, pollution, drugs, and other elements that produce cell damaging free radicals. Some believe that Vitamin E is most effective in its natural alcohol form rather than its acetate form where it is a less effective antioxidant.

The light diffusing crystals help to camouflage dark circles, reflecting light to make the eye area look brighter and fresher, much like the reflection of the sun in a mirror.  Light Diffusing Crystals can be found in many serums, under eye concealers and foundations.

An instant effect eye serum is good to use when you want to address problems under the eyes.  However, keep in mind there is absolutely ZERO long-term value when you use one.  If any company states otherwise, they are making false claims.  Regardless of ingredients, any eye serum that works “instantly” is nothing more than a powerful makeup.  It’s completely fine to use an instant eye serum, or instant gel, as some companies call them, but it’s important to understand that the image you see under your eyes is only temporary, no matter how often you apply the eye serum.
