Snap-8 – Acetyl Octapeptide

One of the most striking signs of skin aging is increased wrinkling of the face. This can occur naturally over time and is identified by certain biochemical, histological and physiological changes that are enhanced by environmental exposure. There are other secondary factors that can cause characteristic folds, furrows and creases of the face. These include the constant pull of gravity, frequent and constant positional pressure of the skin of the face (e.g. during sleep) or repeated facial movements caused by the contraction of the muscles of facial expression. In any case and independently of the ultimate physiological pathway, the molecular mechanism involved in face aging is directly related to changes in the conformation of the collagen triple helix, degradation of the elastin polypeptides and certain disorder in the packing of the lipidic matrix of the skin.

Snap-8 is a rather new peptide that is essentially an advanced and “elongated” version of Argireline, which many researchers claim was the best anti wrinkle ingredient available in skin care products today.

When Argireline came out onto the market, a lot of hype was built up causing many people to compare the anti aging ingredient to Botox.  While it’s still a topical cream, found in the best cosmeceutical-infused eye serums we have reviewed on this site, it’s a workhorse of an ingredient and new brands (see Guthy Renker’s new product line) continue to use it.

Now, an even more potent anti wrinkle ingredient has been released, and it’s called Snap-8.  This ingredient contains eight amino acids and (hence the “Octa”) has the same (some say much better) anti wrinkle qualities of Argireline.

Back in 2001, a study was done that compared Argireline to its newer counterpart, Snap-8, and Placebo.  The results showed that Snap-8 outperformed both!

  • Argireline studies showed a 28% reduction in wrinkle depth
  • Meanwhile, Snap-8 produced roughly 35% reduction in wrinkle depth
  • The only variable we were able to find that was tested commonly was the forehead

So if forehead wrinkles are a problem for you, find an anti aging cream that contains snap 8.

If you are curious as to which skin creams contain Snap-8, its most commonly found in anti aging facial creams, and also as an ingredient in eye serums.  Naturally, that is why we are posting information about it on this eye serum research site.  The active ingredient Snap 8 is essential in fine lines and wrinkle reduction, as it works to relax the muscles and vesicles in the areas where these signs of aging set in.

Most importantly, Snap 8 has no documented side effects.

So far, we have only identified one anti aging cream with Snap 8.  It’s a serum called Elite Serum and it is receiving all sorts of attention!  Not only does it contain Snap 8, but it also contains Argireline, a key anti-aging ingredient!  Elite Serum also contains Matrixyl3000, which we discuss on detail as well!  You can read more about Elite Serum here!
