Many people out there are wondering what the difference is between Matrixyl and Matrixyl 3000. There is a lot of false information going around the web by marketers of products with each ingredient, so it’s important to set the record straight for all of the people out there once and for all.
Made by powerhouse Sederma, Matrixyl was once the best wrinkle cream ingredient available.
Health blogger Kathy T. made a solid video about this ingredient. View it below to learn more.
Then, the company released the advanced version, Matrixyl 3000.
Matrixyl 3000 Serum Reviews
Here is a brief history of this anti aging ingredient targeting wrinkles.
Matrixyl: the first peptide type, long term anti-wrinkle raw material produced by Sederma. They worked in conjunction with L’Oreal to prove the efficacy of the material and to create cosmetic products designed around the peptide technology. Proctor & Gamble saw the value in this raw material and took out a US Patent on it. L’Oreal allowed Sederma to sell small quantities of the raw material to other cosmetic producers, however if the quantities were large, L’Oreal had to given written permission to do so.
If you look around the Internet, you are sure to find good information on this ingredient. It WAS the best wrinkle-fighting ingredient available, but that’s old news. Matrixyl 3000 beats it hand-down, and obviously it’s a more advanced, polished version of an already solid ingredient.
Matrixyl is characterized by Sederma as a revolutionary ingredient for the treatment of wrinkles and a remarkable alternative to retinol and vitamin C.
This ingredient also works to restore the matrix and epidermal-dermal junction to reduce wrinkles. The peptide belongs to a family of molecules called Matrikines. It’s a great alternative to retinol and is non-irritating. It also works without the toxicological concerns or negative side effects that go hand-in-hand with retinol use. The genes activated by it in fibroblasts concur with healing mechanisms, but at the same time they do not possess the agonizing pro-inflammatory reactions of retinol. The potent peptide is comparable in anti-wrinkle treatments to that of retinol and vitamin C. Because of this, it’s a great ingredient to include in many skin care and anti-aging products.
Matrixyl 3000 is used in anti-aging wrinkle creams. You probably won’t find it in many eye creams, as it doesn’t mix well with some of the best eye cream ingredients. But many of the best eye serums are using it with a lot of success.
Matrixyl 3000 is the most recent raw peptide material marketed by Sederma. It is a synthetic pentapeptide (Palmitoyl-Lys-Thr-Thr-Lys-Ser) that mimics a fragment of Procollagen Type I by stimulating the matrix molecules (Collagen I, III, and IV Fibronectin) to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
This is a Matrikine combination that recreates conditions conducive to cell and matrix turnover. This combination acts as cell messengers in order to work on regulating the the process for wound healing, otherwise known as skin repair or “rejuvenation” by many marketers. Sederma, who has experience with both ingredients, has extensive research showing that Matrixyl 3000 has worked better.
Both of these ingredients may work in the same biochemical manner, but it is important to point out that they are different peptide systems. The new 3000 is made from two new peptides with no relation to the palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 that is in the original Matrixyl. Palmitoyl-tripeptide and palmitoyl-oligopeptide are the two new peptides in Matrixyl 3000.
It’s also worth pointing out that there is evidence that Matrixyl 3000 is more efficacious than the original version at creating cell activity.
