Eye Contour Cream

The eye contour area is the circle that reaches from the inner corner of your eye to the outer corner below the end of your eyebrow.  It includes the area underneath your eye as well as the area up to your brow bone.

The term eye contour cream is fairly new and is a perfect example of the brilliant marketing attempts made by manufacturers.  A contour cream is applied to the contour area of the eye, but it’s merely a marketing phrase that picked up steam and several companies modeled their product names after this terminology.  Since the eye treatment industry is one with fierce competition, with literally thousands and thousands of eye creams and eye serums for consumers to choose from, companies are trying to be creative with their marketing efforts.  It’s natural for consumers to be drawn to a fancy name, such as a contour cream.

Several products, whether gel-based, cream-based, or even a serum, call themselves contour creams.  It’s important to know that the term eye contour cream can basically mean any solution that is applied around the eye area.  Eye contour merely refers to a specific region of the eye.  Regardless of the type of eye treatment, whether it is a gel, a serum, or a cream, they are all applied to the same areas around the eyes.

Eye contour creams claim to do the following:

  • Soothe and relieve under eye puffiness and dark circles
  • Hydrate and soothe the sensitive eye area
  • Provide antioxidant protection
  • Smooth expression lines

You will notice these are the same claims that most eye treatments creams claim to do.  A contour cream does not offer any added benefits over an eye cream, eye gel or eye serum.  A contour cream is a similar product with a slightly fancier name, but don’t be fooled.  It’s the ingredients that you’re after, not the name.

Some of the eye contour creams available today include:

  • EAU THERMALE Soothing Eye Contour Cream
  • BENEFIANCE WrinkleResist24 Intensive Eye Contour Cream
  • Yes To Carrots – Eye Can C Clearly Now Eye Contour Cream
  • Eminence Organic Skincare, Herbal Eye Contour Cream

All of these products are available online as well as large department stores.  The Yes to Carrots products can be found at national chain stores such as Walgreens and Target.  Not all stores carry this specific product though, so you will want to check with your local store prior to heading out.

The price point of the above mentioned products are consistent with the average price points of eye serum and eye creams, ranging from $14 up to $75.
